Matt Brown is an old soul. It doesn’t take long when listening to his music to realize that. Taking influence from the likes of Ray Charles, The Beatles, Kris Kristofferson, and more, Matt’s music is timeless, full of heart, and somehow feels familiar even when heard for the first time.

Matt grew up in a small town in the pacific northwest of Washington state listening to old school country that his dad would play on an old guitar. In college Matt and his good friend Ryan Root formed a band and discovered their joint affinity for creating music as well as performing. They still write songs together today under Hotel Union and Brown & Root. As a young adult Matt moved to Nashville and spent nearly a decade there honing his craft and opening for the likes of Chris Issak, Huey Lewis, Train, Michael Franti, and many others. He’s collaborated with many talented artists including two-time grammy winner Scott Underwood for Matt’s 2018 album “Get it Right,” which Underwood played the drums on. In 2019 Matt was part of the Runaway to Paradise cruise- a popular music event that featured Jon Bon Jovi, Tonic, and Collective Soul.

Matt moved back to Washington in 2020 much to the delight of many long time fans, and can be heard playing around the area in various venues. Check out the tour section of this site to see where he’s playing next.
